One of the easist crafts we’ve ever done for the holidays is this no sew banner made of felt sheeting, available from any craft supply or fabric store.
Felt is notoriously inexpensive, and sheets of it in many cases sell for several for under a dollar.
The banner is cut and glued with fabric glue, or heat tape used to secure the cut out images to the banner.
You could use stencils to cut the images you wanted piecing them together, or cut larger image of holiday stockings, candy canes or reindeer to make the banner.
Using just a single bead of glue, make a pocket for the flag rod or if you prefer to stitch it, sew around each piece as you cut it out. No need to overcast, as felt does not fray and the raw edges stay looking clean and sharp.
One of the stencils we’ve used to make flags such as this one is shown fo ryou below.
Using fabric glue, its an easy and relatively safe craft for children to do , (when supervised) and can be finished in an afternoon.
You will need:
several sheets of colored felt in holiday colors such as red, green and black.
A larger sheet of felt, about a foot wide by two feet long.
Craft or fabric glue
Jingle bells, buttons or other accoutrements to embellish your flag.
