Gingersnap Cookies

Everyone has a family recipe for gingersnaps.  They are a classic cookie
that everyone loves and this recipe almost guarantees that they come out
perfect every time.

1 cup of sugar
3/4 cup of shortening
1 egg
1/4 cup of molasses
1 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of baking soda
1 teaspoon of ginger
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of clove
2 cups of flour

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.  Cream the sugar, shortening, egg, and
molasses together in a large mixing bowl.  Add the salt, soda, and
spices.  Mix in the flour.  Scrape the bowl and make sure the dough is
thoroughly mixed.  Roll the dough into balls and dip in sugar.  Place
the dough balls sugar side up on a cookie sheet.  Bake for 8 to 10
minutes.
