Smells in your home are just a reality of life.

I don’t care how clean you are, no matter how well you keep up after things around the house, you’re going to find that wet towel in the bottom of the hamper even after you’ve told them a thousand times to hang the towel up.

If you don’t find a wet towel you’re going to find a nasty surprise in the kids closet.

Before you grab for that aerosol can and asphyxiate the cat and yourself, think hard about what you’re putting in the air.

Not all air fresheners are even remotely good for you and not all of them, in fact, quite few air fresheners actually kill the germs that are causing the odor.

In reality most commercial sprays only cover the odor, they don’t kill the root of the problem. Additionally, they are costly things, ranging from 2 dollars up to about six for a simple cover up scent that works for half hour or so til you’ve found the same issue facing you and you’ve killed the cat.

Well alright so it isn’t quite that dramatic, however you do want to find things that are healthy, and don’t create allergic reactions, and that are safe for the pets to be exposed to, not to mention your family.

Some of the best air fresheners are things like vinegar, which will in reality also kill some of the germs that are creating the noxious odor that you’re concerned about.

If, in reality, you do want to simply clean it up and cover the odor, why not consider sprinkling a little cinnamon into a bowl and microwaving it, or boiling a pain of cinnamon on the stove, which will scent your home nicely and keep it free of some of the chemicals that are in the spray air fresheners.

If the quality of your air is of concern to you, and let’s face it, it should certainly concern us all, then finding alternatives to the can of air freshener that we automatically reach for and move to something a bit greener and more easy on us and the environment.
