With the holidays there are always family gatherings, work obligations,
and holiday parties.

Sugar Cookies for Christmas

Christmas isn’t Christmas without sugar cookies to decorate with the tiny sugary sprinkles or cut out into delightfully fun shapes for the kids to decorate.

Christmas Gifts in a Jar : Cookies

Christmas is a time for giving, but what if you don’t have time for all that shopping for the folks you really should recognize, but don’t have the time to shop for. Give them something nice, simple and inexpensive, Christmas cookies. But dookies you don’t have to bake. You make the mix, jar it up and dress up the jar with a few accoutrements.

Christmas cookie mixes, or gifts in a jar are pefect for the neighbor, your babysitter, or just an elderly friend who doesn’t take the time to bake them for herself.

Gifts in a jar are easy to accomplish, don’t cost much to make and are much appreciated for Christmas or holiday gifts.

Give a gift of warm cookies fresh from the oven! With this simple cookie mix, the lucky recipient will be able to whip up a batch of cookies in minutes.

Ingredients:(cowboy cookie recipe)

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 cup ground oatmeal
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Prep

Mix the flour with salt and baking soda and blend it all well together.

Layer the dry ingredients into a 1 quart jar, packing it  down so ingredients fit.

Attach a label to the jar, perhaps written on a lovely note card, with all of the ingredients and the instructions below.

To make Chocolate Chip Cookies:

1 container Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix
1 cup margarine, softened
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Beat butter in a large bowl until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and beat again. Beat in dry ingredients from cookie mix,  into butter mixture until blended.

Drop batter by spoonfuls, spaced 2″ apart, onto a greased or parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 9-11 minutes . Makes 4 dozen cookies.
